ABOUT NATIVE ACRES.
My Mother, Patricia came up with the name Native Acres. She was proud of her Cherokee heritage, as am I. I am also proud of my roots deeply planted in Scotland. The name Native Acres represents not only our Cherokee and Scottish roots, but also our love of the land, and the old-fashioned way of doing things. Going back to the beginning, and the simpler way, is my mission in life. Since Mom's passing in 2006, and Dad's passing in 2017, I have decided to turn Native Acres back to a homestead.
On this sight you will find handmade goat milk soap, made from the milk of my dairy goats, and handspun yarn, spun by myself from the wool of my sheep, fiber from my Angora rabbits, and specialty fibers that I pick up sometimes from other spinners. You will also find salves, and sometime teas from plants in the garden and on the property.
I will be sharing my journey of turning this property back to a homestead on this sight. Please feel free to comment and ask any questions you may have!

Hope to hear from you soon!
About Me.
I was born and raised on a grain and livestock farm in Chatham, Illinois. Mom and dad had and raised 6 kids on this farm. We grew our own food, butchered our own beef, and pork. Mom raised chickens for eggs and meat. We had dairy cows for milk and butter. Our gardens were large and consisted of just about any kind of vegetable you could think of. We even had one large area of nothing but potatoes! We picked blackberries and strawberries, and any other fruit mom could get her hands on. She would can all summer, along with making jams and jellies.
This is the lifestyle I am used to, and the type of life that I love. With mom and dad both gone, I have decided to get back to my roots, and am going to live with the land, and be self-sufficient. My plan is to be totally off grid in 5 years. That is the goal I am working towards! I know both mom and dad would approve of my decision, to get back to the life I am used to.
Love and miss you both.
